Gazmend Ejupi
Founder Of Prishtina Biennale
Gazmend Ejupi (b. 1973, Vushtrri, Kosovo) is an artist, academic, and curator whose work bridges visual culture, research, and institution-building. Educated in the United Kingdom, with studies at Kingston University, Ejupi has developed a practice that often employs film, unedited footage, and narrative structures to explore themes of identity, migration, and the intersections of art with everyday life.
As an educator, he leads the Art and Digital Media program at the University for Business and Technology (UBT) in Prishtina, where he has played a central role in shaping the next generation of Kosovar artists. His academic and artistic work consistently emphasizes dialogue, experimentation, and the critical role of art in social transformation.
Ejupi is the founder of the Prishtina Biennale, an international contemporary art event that situates Kosovo within the global cultural map while highlighting the creativity and vision of local and regional artists. Through the Biennale, he has created a platform where emerging voices engage with established international figures, opening conversations that resonate far beyond the local context.
In both his personal practice and his institutional initiatives, Gazmend Ejupi continues to cultivate spaces where art becomes a tool for connection, reflection, and cultural innovation.
